SUBJECT : DEConnect MMJ to COM Port
DATE : 05/17/90
FYI # : 052190sb
OS VERSION : n/a
REVISION : n/a
SHELL VERSION : n/a
GENERAL
INFORMATION : Using a workstation as a Dec terminal through the
serial port on the workstation. The DeConnect cables have the MMJ connector.
PROBLEM : Correct Pin-out
SOLUTION : The correct pin-out is:
25-pin serial 9-pin serial MMJ
3 2 5 Yellow
2 3 2 Black
7 5 1 White (Orange)
6 6 6 Blue (Brown)
4 7 3 & 4 Red & Green
COMMENTS (Optional) : I have the 9 pin variant running in several
places, not the 25 pin, but this is a standard 9 to 25 conversion
to derive those. The MMJ cables were originally plugged into the
backs of VT-320 CRTs. I had called DEC, and they gave me four
posible pin outs, all of which did not work. The pin outs above
took four hours to find and test completely. I know that DEC has
these converters available pre-made, and I did try one, but again
it did not work. Hope that this info is helpful to someone.
